Services to support your Scholar

Services to support your Scholar

Unparalleled services to support your Scholar all summer long

Reliable transportation

School buses safely take eligible students in grades PreK-7 to and from Summer Scholars. For Fast-Track and Credit Academies, we partner with the City of Minneapolis so students can take Metro Transit to school, work and extracurricular activities. MPS determines eligibility for transportation based on a number of factors, including where you live, what school you attend, and what services your student qualifies for. When you enroll in Summer Scholars, someone will help you navigate the process.

Inclusive advanced academics

All MPS Summer Scholars Academies for students in grades PreK-8 are able to support advanced academic opportunities for students. Through hands-on activities, challenging curriculum and opportunities to explore careers, we challenge students to reach their full potential. Our Academies prepare students as global citizens and lifelong learners. When you graduate as an MPS Summer Scholar, you leave ready to conquer whatever you take on next school year.

Learn more about each of our Summer Scholars Academies or call 612.668.0730.

Note: Current 8th graders can meet classmates and earn high school credit before their freshman year through Fast-Track Academy.

Supportive Special Education services

We welcome students of all abilities and support them through Special Education services in Summer Scholars. To receive Special Education services, a student must be evaluated and meet state criteria. Eligible students receive services based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan.
Visit the Summer Scholars Special Education webpage or call 612.668.5423 for more information.

Exceptional English Learner (EL) services

EL services in our schools help students learn to listen, speak, read, and write in English. Families of Summer Scholars can expect support for your student learning English just like the regular school year. If you are eligible for services, staff will follow up with additional information.
