Discovery and Learning Academy accelerates student learning and is grounded in social and emotional support relevant to the many cultures of our students. Math and literacy are an intensive summer focus in this program, and students also participate in music, art and physical education through active and engaging projects. Onsite and offsite field trips enhance student learning. Caring, committed teachers ensure a well-rounded educational experience for all students with access to technology resources to support learning. Students entering grades K-5 are eligible to participate.

Dates: June 26-August 3, 2023 (Monday through Thursday, no school 6/29, 7/3, and 7/4)
Time: 8:00am-2:30pm

If your current school is not listed to attend the Discovery & Learning program at Folwell, please know that you may select a GEMS/GISE/STEM Academy listed for your current school found on this tab: https://summerschool.mpls.k12.mn.us/gems_gise_stem_academy. The reading and math curriculum will be same for both programs (2 hours of reading and 1 hour of math). Your student would then be scheduled for two GEMS/GISE/STEM Academy courses which will include courses like physical education, arts, music or STEM.
